The Forgotten Age

Meet Brianne & Katelyn my old neighbors. Katelyn is 13 and Brianne is 10 years old and I could not love these images more. There is a HUGE gap in children’s photography and that is this age the “tweens”. It seems parents stop getting professional portraits done of their children after the age of 5 years old. To me the ages beyond 5 are an integral time to have children’s portraits taken. They are so vibrant and full of life, just on the cusp of becoming who they really are. I believe wholehearted that this would be an amazing gift for girls as this age can be the absolute worst in terms of peer relationships, school and overall major changes coming their way. I can remember grade seven like it was yesterday and it truly was the worst year of my school years. Girls were mean, they talked behind my back, they got together to write me a note outlining exactly what was wrong with me. I remember taking this note home to my mom and I think it really hurt her more that it did me. These girls decided that nobody in my class should be my friend until they allowed it about 2 months later. I sat alone all the time, nobody would talk to me.It is funny because some of those girls are my best friends today and I bet they have cannot even remember it happening. I never considered myself bullied it was just this minor 2 month stint in grade seven that i will never forget. Girls at this age need someone they really do!!!

Welcome!

My name is Janna and I currently live in Saskatoon, Sask. I have an in home studio space that I use for shooting newborns, milestones and motherhood sessions.

All in all, I am surviving on coffee and very little sleep but I am happy. I have the privilege to work with absolutely wonderful families who trust me to hold their little bitty babies and honour me with the creation of their memories.  I do feel truly blessed. I would love to meet you and maybe learn a little bit about you and your family!
